Grilled Chicken Yakitori Recipe

Whether it’s a pool party or a cook out, these sweet and spicy Grilled Chicken Yakitori skewers are guaranteed crowd pleasers.

Ingredients

1 lb. chicken tenders
4 wooden skewers, 8-10 in. long
2 cups rice, cooked

 

Yakitori Marinade
1/4 cup Mizkan Mirin
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. Mizkan Seasoned Rice Vinegar
1 Tbsp. peanut oil or vegetable oil
1 tsp. garlic, minced
1 tsp. ginger, minced
hot chili flakes to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine marinade ingredients; stir to dissolve sugar.
  2. Place chicken in a non-metallic container or sealable plastic bag.
  3. Pour marinade over chicken. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours. Meanwhile, soak skewers in water for 1-2 hours.
  4. Pour marinade from chicken into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; boil at least 1 full minute.
  5. Cover and keep warm until ready to serve.
  6. Thread chicken on skewers. Grill over medium heat, with cover closed, for 3-4 minutes. Turn, and cook 3-4 minutes more or until cooked through.
  7. Serve over rice, drizzled with hot marinade.

 

Note: Chicken may be broiled.
