Bang Bang Shrimp

Ingredients

Sauce:

 

Shrimp:

  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 pound raw large shrimp, peeled, deveined (21/25 count)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup corn or potato starch
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

INSTRUCTIONS

For the Sauce:

  1. Combine sauce ingredients in medium bowl. Cover and refrigerate.

 

For the Shrimp:

  1. Heat oil in large cast iron skillet or heavy bottom pan on medium heat until 375°F.
  2. Meanwhile, combine shrimp with salt and garlic powder in medium bowl. Dredge shrimp with starch until covered evenly on all sides. Cook shrimp in batches 3-4 minutes, or until golden, turning once during cooking.
  3. Transfer cooked shrimp to wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain. Toss shrimp with prepared sauce. Serve immediately garnished with green onions.
